Minimum two (2) years of experience and a diploma in a legal assistant program is required. The candidate for this position must have the ability to work independently, but at the same time be a strong team player. The candidate must have excellent organizational skills, have strong attention to detail skills and be able to manage time and multiple priorities effectively, maintaining composure under pressure. The candidate must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and be effective at formatting, grammar, syntax and proof reading. The candidate must have experience in a Windows-based PC environment and have proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Working with little supervision, this position draws on technical and practical skills to respond to changing priorities, takes initiative, accepts responsibility, is proactive, maintains a high level of confidentiality and works in a complex environment. The candidate must be able to work within short time-lines and with frequent interruptions while maintaining quality workmanship and must exhibit a high degree of professionalism in dealing with sensitive information.
