Required Qualifications:

Minimum Bachelor Degree in Commerce, Business Administration or similar is required. Professional Accounting designation is required with preference to Chartered Professional Accountant designation. At least 7 years of progressive responsibility in a financial reporting role in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity. Preference will be given to individuals with related health care reporting experience.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Experience in performing complex audits is required to understand the requirements of the external auditors. Thorough understanding and working knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Standards. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective collaborative working relationships within Finance, the external auditors and other stakeholders as necessary. The ability to perform detail oriented tasks with significant amounts of data. Demonstrated experience in leading, managing and mentoring professional staff. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and prioritization skills. Strong Microsoft Office product skills, specifically Word and Excel. Ability to think and act systematically and analytically. Ability to deal with highly complex and sensitive matters in a professional manner. Considerable skill is needed to balance diverse and, occasionally conflicting, stakeholder interests Ability to work independently with guidance in various complex situations. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others.

Preferred Qualifications:

Other qualifications that would be considered an asset are: Knowledge of NPO tax return preparation (charity returns, T2s).
