Description:

The Lead Analyst for Emergency Department (ED) Medicine provides strategic leadership in the development and advancement of a modern ED analytics program. This role is responsible for building and governing a robust data infrastructure, ensuring alignment with provincial and federal reporting requirements, and supporting organizational priorities related to patient flow, access, and performance. As a trusted advisor to physicians, operational leaders, and executive partners, the Lead Analyst leads a team of analysts to deliver high-quality insights through advanced analytics, predictive modeling, and innovative data visualization tools. The Lead Analyst oversees the design and delivery of strategic dashboards and reports that monitor key ED metrics such as wait times, resource utilization, patient volumes, and flow performance. This role fosters a culture of data‑driven decision-making and ensures analytic outputs are actionable, accurate, and meaningful to front-line teams and leaders. As the ED Medicine Analytics Team is newly established, the Lead Analyst plays a critical role in shaping the direction and structure of the program. This includes customer engagement, research, program design, standard development, and assessment of resource and infrastructure needs. The role also provides mentorship to analysts, ensures adherence to data governance and security best practices, and leads initiatives that support improved patient experience and outcomes through innovative analytical approaches.

Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree in health informatics, Data Science, Statistics, Economics or a related field.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 8 years of experience in healthcare analytics. Advanced proficiency in SQL and experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake). Strong knowledge of healthcare data standards, provincial/federal reporting requirements, and data governance principles. Expertise in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau) and dashboard development. Familiarity with predictive analytics, modeling, and simulation techniques. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights. Demonstrated leadership in mentoring and developing analytical teams. Proven track record in building and maintaining robust data infrastructures aligned with organizational priorities. Experience in implementing governance frameworks for data integrity, security, and compliance. Hands-on experience delivering performance monitoring dashboards and reports for clinical and operational improvement. Practical application of advanced analytics to optimize resource allocation and patient flow. Successful collaboration with physicians, operational leaders, and quality improvement teams to drive data-informed decisions. Background in quality assurance for analytical outputs. Previous experience with migration of legacy data from Oracle/SQL Server to Snowflake.
