The Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre (RDRHC) is the only regional referral centre for Central Zone, providing specialized healthcare services to more than 450,000 people across Central Alberta—stretching from Drumheller to Two Hills, and from the Saskatchewan border to the Rocky Mountains. RDRHC is entering an exciting period of major redevelopment, including 200 additional inpatient beds (for a total of 570), six new operating rooms, and two state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheterization Labs! With the opening of the new, state-of-the-art Cardiac Cath Lab, there will be expanded access to cardiovascular care for patients across the Central Zone. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a passionate multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering faster diagnosis and treatment for a full spectrum of heart and vascular conditions! The Clinical Informatics Lead plays a key role in supporting the expanding cardiac program by providing strategic and technical leadership for clinical information systems, reporting and analytics. The role bridges clinical operations and information technology, supporting Cardiology, the Cardiac Cath Lab and Heart Function Clinic while ensuring reliable systems, data integrity and actionable information. Working closely with AHS IT, physicians, operational leaders, vendors and provincial partners, the Lead will support system enhancements, technology implementation, workflow optimization and change management. This position provides an exciting opportunity to help shape the information systems and digital workflows that will support the new Cath Labs and the future of cardiac care in Central Alberta.

Description:

The Clinical Informatics Lead is responsible for the strategic and technical components of cardiac clinical information systems and analytics at Red Deer Regional Hospital. The Lead bridges clinical operations and information technology, ensuring reliable system performance, data integrity and actionable reporting across Cardiology, the Cardiac Cath Lab and Heart Function Clinic. The role provides site-level support and technical oversight for major cardiac clinical reporting systems and provides expert advice and operational solutions to meet current and future clinical information system needs. The Lead provides leadership in project development, implementation and change management, including new technology, software upgrades, workflow improvements and IT-supported initiatives. The role participates in site, zone and provincial steering groups, committees and project teams, and collaborates with AHS IT, vendors and other stakeholders to align cardiac information systems with AHS standards, policies and strategic plans. The Lead also supports privacy and security requirements, clinical data integrity, physician billing processes and ongoing service improvement.

Required Qualifications:

Undergraduate degree required. A degree in Information Technology, Health Informatics or a related field is required. Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in health informatics. Equivalencies of education, experience and skills may be considered.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability to think systematically and critically to improve quality, realize improved outcomes and engage others in the same is required. Demonstrated experience with planning, communication, facilitation and coordination of multiple projects or operational work packages is required. Strong knowledge of Clinical Information Systems and proven analytical, planning, organizational and time management skills are required. Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to promote teamwork, collaboration and partnership are essential. The role requires strong decision-making, coaching and teaching skills, a commitment to customer satisfaction, a results-oriented approach and the ability to meet deadlines. Experience supporting system implementation, workflow optimization, change management and collaboration with clinical, IT and external stakeholders is required.
