Your Opportunity:
Provincial Research Data Services (PRDS) is a team of 40+ members within the Data and Analytics (DnA) portfolio of Health Shared Services organization funded by AbSPORU, VITAL, Health Shared Services and research collaborations. This Lead role will report to a Program Lead within the team and help support our growing team, with particular focus on project management, analytical support and improvement of processes and technical knowledge within our team. This incumbent will be an expert resource on available data sources and analytical methods available to support research studies to help inform feasibility assessments and oversee completion of projects, working with both external/internal researchers/clients as well as our internal team of analysts and leaders. This position does not formally supervise staff but will be expected to oversee and collaborate on work done by other members of our team in a leadership capacity.
Description:
Key responsibilities of this position include the following: Collaborate with leadership team to identify issues, concerns, and areas for improvement within the team. Review requests to determine feasibility and appropriateness. Oversee and manage projects being worked on by analysts and provide guidance and expertise to both analysts and researchers throughout the project life cycle. Maintain a high proficiency in technical skills such as Snowflake, R, Python and SAS. Serve as an analytical expert and provide guidance and support with statistical methods. Support specific initiatives within the team as appropriate, such as national priorities and development of common data models. Develop a strong understanding of data protection concepts and the Alberta Health Information Act. May be expected to provide support related to financial and operational reporting.

Minimum Master's Degree in a quantitative field, such as Statistics, Epidemiology or Health Sciences. At least 10 years of experience working directly with Canadian health services datasets. Extensive project management experience, including managing a large volume of concurrent projects. A track record of collaborating on peer reviewed journal publications. Expert knowledge of relevant analytical software packages

Preferred Qualifications:
PhD preferred in a relevant field. Alberta specific data experience in a supervisory role overseeing the work of analysts.
