Your Opportunity:
Laundry II worker is responsible for a variety of tasks associated with the preparation and washing of soiled linen in addition to the distribution of clean linen and wearing apparel in accordance with Alberta Health Services Standards and Practices. This position will be required to learn and operate all commercial laundry equipment as well as manual tasks, transport soiled and clean linen. Good customer service, accountability, reliability required. Accountable for soiled linen: collection, transportation, sort, weighting, recording, loading of washers, programming washers, unloading, transporting. Prioritizing workloads, following direction, routines, policies, guidelines. Accountable for Clean linen: loading dryers, programing dryers, unloading dryers, sort, fold in a variety of ways, hang, count, bag, fill carts to exact quota amounts, transport to departments, areas, rooms, document. Work as a team member responsible for their individual duties. High organizational skills, ability to serve others. Performs PH and Titration testing. Check and maintain laundry chemical levels and replace as necessary. Monitor and adjust workflow and volume to maximize equipment utilization and meet output requirements. Respectful to all. Label clothing. General cleaning of work area. Manage challenging situations. Communicates to working leader any requested quota changes, linen shortages and equipment problems. Complying with (OH&S), (WHMIS), work safety, IPC regulations, ACE, and Communicable Disease Assessment. Provide a clear criminal record/vulnerable sector check at your cost.
Description:
As a Laundry II, you will be responsible for transporting, preparing and washing soiled linen and distributing of clean linen and apparel. Your typical duties may include sorting and weighing soiled linen; loading, unloading and operating washing and drying equipment; preparing surgical textile packs; monitoring and adjusting workflow and volume to maximize equipment utilization and ensuring equipment is working properly.

Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent. Physically capable to lift up to 20kg, walk and/or stand for the duration of your shift, and perform repetitive physical movements.
Additional Required Qualifications:Physical Effort/Strength required: Frequent physical demands include. A range of lifting between floor to above shoulders, capable of lifting 25-50 pounds on a regular basis. Bending at knees, bending forward, pushing, pulling, reaching, squatting, kneeling. Standing and walking for the majority of the shift. Arm, wrist, elbow and shoulder work for the majority of the shift. Good customer service and interpersonal skills required. Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written format. Valid non restricted advanced Class 5 driver's License or non GDL and clean drivers abstract.
Preferred Qualifications:Completion of Laundry Chemical or equivalent courses preferred. Industrial Laundry experience preferred.
