Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
Additional Required Qualifications:The Laboratory Technologist I – Immunohistochemistry will participate in the daily operation of Laboratory Services Edmonton Zone Immunohistochemistry (EZIHC) Laboratory. This laboratory is responsible for providing essential diagnostic and prognostic IHC testing for patients in the Edmonton and North Zones of Alberta. Under the leadership of the EZIHC Medical Lead, laboratory manager and departmental supervisor, the successful candidate will perform the following: All aspects of Immunohistochemical testing (e.g. antigen retrieval, staining, etc) according to strict protocols and guidelines. Quality Assurance and Quality Control procedures. Routine Histopathology duties. Proper documentation and processing of clinical specimens using the LIS. Other duties as required.
Preferred Qualifications:A B.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Science is preferred. Experience in Immunohistochemistry is an asset. Experience in Histology is an asset. Working knowledge of CoPath LIS is an asset.
