Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant training program.
Additional Required Qualifications:Graduate of MLA/MLT course or equivalent education required. Experience with MediTech or other laboratory information system required. Strong keyboarding skills as well as demonstrated understanding and proficiency with the Microsoft Suite of applications required. Knowledgeable about and able to demonstrate technical and safety competencies for a Medical Laboratory Assistant as per CMLTA Competency guidelines. Demonstrates Alberta Health Services values in everyday interactions with patients, staff and clients. Ability to follow and adhere to Alberta Health Services policies, procedures, goals and objectives including privacy and confidentiality and the Code of Conduct. Ability to perform duties as outlined on the Physical Demands Analysis for the position. Ability to understand and acknowledge hazards identified on the Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Risk Control document and be accountable to use available controls while working in this position. Ability to work independently, and within a team, effectively managing his or her time and setting priorities when facility.
Preferred Qualifications:Minimum of 3 months experience as an active MLA preferred. Current CMLTA registration preferred.
