Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent. Equivalent is defined as completion of a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) and Combined Laboratory and Xray Technologist (CLXT) program in Canada; completion of a Medical Lab Technician/Technologist program outside of Canada; and MLT and CLXT students who have completed their phlebotomy training/rotation. Applicants with a high school diploma may be considered. If hired, you will be required to complete on-the-job phlebotomy training provided by APL at no cost, and formal training courses offered by SAIT (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology) or NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology). The costs associated with these formal training courses will be your responsibility. You will be required to complete these training requirements within your probationary period, as per the Health Sciences Association of Alberta (HSAA) collective agreement.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Recent and relevant experience and competency in phlebotomy techniques within the last year. Recent and relevant experience in a hospital setting within the last 2 years.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with EPIC. Experience with pediatric and neonatal venipuncture and/or skin puncture within the last year. Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills. Courses or training in process improvement or change management. Experience in outpatient lab one patient flow process
