Under the general supervision of the Manager, the Kinesiologist I performs professional duties relating to exercise and health lifestyle assessment, programming, education and management of clients using all appropriate kinesiology techniques. The Kinesiologist I ensure his/her practice of evidence based, client centered and meets the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP), Canadian Certified Exercise Physiologist (CEP) standards of practice. This position is responsible for collaborating with the Manager and the interdisciplinary team in developing evidence-based practice particularly in the area of exercise and health lifestyle promotion. This position works closely with other health care disciplines to ensure timely and effective care provisions. Skills preferred: In-depth knowledge of methods and techniques used in treating the patients. Expertise in adapting appropriate diagnostic skills. Ability to know the seriousness of the illness and the type and duration of treatment required. Should possess profound communication skills and ability to tackle patients of all age groups.
Description:
As a Kinesiologist, you may be working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, utilizing evidence-based and client-centred practice. You may be performing assessment of exercise tolerance for the purpose of developing, implementing, evaluating and maintaining appropriate exercise prescriptions/programs as well as referring patients (clients, residents) appropriately to other healthcare programs and/or services. You will take a health promotion perspective, providing self-management support and guiding the patient towards achieving improvements in their health and physical functioning by conducting pre-participation evaluations, screening of health status, and outcome measurement tests. You may be developing, supervising, monitoring and modifying the exercise programs, supervising clients both individually and in a group-focused program, and providing education to clients and their families.

Completion of bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Physical Education, Exercise Physiology, or equivalent exercise science degree. Current Clinical Exercise Physiologist to (CSEP) or the American College of Sports Medicine's Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology or the equivalent. Professional Fitness and Lifestyle Consultant Certification, or equivalent. Current CPR certification. Basic computer skills are required.
Preferred Qualifications:American College of Sports Medicine Exercise Specialist Certification of Master level education with chronic disease focus preferred. Experience in exercise/lifestyle counseling, testing, prescription & monitoring of special populations: chronic disease, elderly. Strong knowledge of exercise testing protocols in all areas of exercise physiology including anthropometry, strength, flexibility, aerobic capacity. Knowledge of clinical exercise testing protocols: Stage II exercise testing.
