Your Opportunity:

This position will be based in Camrose and will collaborate with the interdisciplinary team at the Camrose Healthy Living Centre as well as traveling to locations in Flagstaff County and collaborating with the Allied Health team and community members. The Kinesiologist performs professional duties relating to exercise and healthy lifestyle assessments, exercise programming, 1:1 intervention and education for adults with one or more chronic conditions. The Kinesiologist ensures his/her practice is evidence-based and client-centred. This position functions as a member of a multidisciplinary team in the community and is responsible for developing evidence-based practice particularly in the area of physical activity, exercise and healthy lifestyle promotion.

Description:

As a Kinesiologist, you may be working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, utilizing evidence-based and client-centred practice. You may be performing assessment of exercise tolerance for the purpose of developing, implementing, evaluating and maintaining appropriate exercise prescriptions/programs as well as referring patients (clients, residents) appropriately to other healthcare programs and/or services. You will take a health promotion perspective, providing self-management support and guiding the patient towards achieving improvements in their health and physical functioning by conducting pre-participation evaluations, screening of health status, and outcome measurement tests. You may be developing, supervising, monitoring and modifying the exercise programs, supervising clients both individually and in a group-focused program, and providing education to clients and their families.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Physical Education, Exercise Physiology, or equivalent exercise science degree. Current Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology Certified Exercise Physiologist (CSEP-CEP) or the American College of Sports Medicine's Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Excellent with individuals with disabilities and elderly. Knowledgeable regarding biomechanics, exercise prescription and progression, and ergonomic evaluation of individuals with physical impairments. Able to function effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Effective communication and interpersonal skills fundamental. Basic computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in outpatient, inpatient & community settings. Experience with developing exercise-based treatment plans for patients with chronic musculo-skeletal impairments. Experience with developing exercise-based treatment plans for patients with acute injuries/post-operative conditions.
