Your Opportunity:
Alberta Health Services, Information Technology, IT Facility Projects is looking for a Project Manager to join our province-wide team. This exciting portfolio works with AB Infrastructure and HSS Capital Management on facility type projects such as new hospital builds, renovations, and staff relocations. Leads, co-ordinates and monitors components of IT Facility projects (for large scale projects incumbent will work under a Senior Project Manager).
Description:
Act as an IT single point of contact on smaller projects or will work with a Senior Project Manager on a component of a larger project. Lead, plan, and organize small projects or portions of larger projects/programs using standardized tools and techniques. Able to work on several projects concurrently. Provide leadership and organization to project resource team members by monitoring/delegating/reviewing work completed by the team, contractors, or other external stakeholders. Maintain schedules, prioritize, and monitor work plans and assignments to ensure delivery within the program/initiative parameters. Gather post-implementation review feedback, perform transition to operations processes, and complete proper project closure duties. Communicate, manage expectations, and represent the organization's interests to internal and external stakeholders. Provide recommendations and advice in the strategy, planning, and development of new or improved procedures and policies. Facilitate and participate in meetings to assist in documenting action items, user requirements, and issues. - Lead meetings as required. Gather user group requirements and built IT equipment lists for approval by Project Managers and stakeholders. Provide support to the project team in managing issues and risks. Identify risks, issues, problems, and challenges and escalate them to the Project Manager. Liaise with key stakeholders for the project/initiative to provide status updates, gather feedback and exchange information. Create Project Proposals and Charters for smaller projects as required. Work in the PMO Methodology (PPM) Tool. Monitor, maintain, and analyze budget and cost controls for the project/initiative. Prepare documents for approval by the Project Manager such as Purchase Requisitions, Equipment Requests, Contract Requisitions, Travel Expenses, etc.

A bachelor’s degree in related field or IT Polytechnic Certificate or equivalent experience, actively working towards a project management designation. A minimum of 5 years managing projects, experience working in an IT or Clinical environment. Intermediate knowledge of project management principles, tools and methodologies.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Strong organizational and communication skills are needed for this position. Must be comfortable working within health care facilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Construction knowledge is an asset.
