Your Opportunity:

This role focuses on managing and operating vulnerability assessment tools and network detection and response (NDR) platforms to proactively identify vulnerabilities and respond to potential threats. The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily operation, monitoring, and analysis of cybersecurity technologies to ensure a strong security posture. As a part of the cybersecurity team this role will assist with vulnerability assessments and management, threat detection and network monitoring, security monitoring and reporting as well as collaboration & knowledge sharing with cross functional teams. This is a hybrid position and will require 3 days per week to be in office in either Calgary or Edmonton.

Description:

This position will provide: Vulnerability & Asset Management. Operate and manage vulnerability assessment platforms to conduct regular security scans across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. Analyze and prioritize discovered vulnerabilities, providing actionable reports and remediation recommendations. Work with IT and security teams to ensure timely mitigation, patching, and hardening of systems. Track remediation efforts and validate fixes to ensure compliance with security policies. Threat Detection & Network Monitoring. Manage and monitor Network Detection and Response (NDR) platforms to identify anomalous network activity and potential security incidents. Investigate alerts, analyze network traffic, and collaborate with Security Operations Center (SOC) and incident response teams to respond to threats. Continuously refine detection rules, signatures, and behavioral analytics to enhance threat visibility and reduce false positives. Provide insights and recommendations for improving network security configurations and policies. Security Monitoring & Reporting. Conduct continuous monitoring of security infrastructure to detect and respond to security events. Generate and present reports on vulnerability trends, threat activity, and security tool performance to leadership and stakeholders. Maintain security logs, audit trails, and documentation for compliance and forensic investigations. Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing. Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate vulnerability management and NDR tools into existing security operations. Stay up to date with emerging cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and best practices. Participate in training, tabletop exercises, and cybersecurity awareness initiatives to improve overall security culture.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Understanding that some candidates may have a non-traditional education path, for candidates without a relevant degree, an equivalent amount of experience and demonstrable technical expertise will be considered.


Additional Required Qualifications:

A strong understanding of vulnerability management, risk assessment, and security remediation processes. Proficiency in using NDR tools to analyze network traffic and detect potential security threats. The ability to interpret and correlate security logs and alerts from multiple sources. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail along with excellent communication skills to present security findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST CSF, CIS, or ISO 27001. Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK and MITRE D3FEND.


Preferred Qualifications:

CompTIA Security+, GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or similar security-related certifications.
