Your Opportunity:
Alberta Health Services is seeking a dynamic and experienced Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) to support the Gastroenterology Central Access & Triage (CAT) and SCOPE programs in the Edmonton Corridor. In this role, you will act as a clinical practice leader, driving excellence in education and competency across interprofessional teams involved in referral intake, clinical triage, and patient navigation. You will design, deliver, and evaluate innovative learning strategies that support standardized, evidence-informed triage decisions, optimize Gastroenterology care pathways, and improve patient outcomes, access, and experience. Working in close partnership with gastroenterologists, nursing staff, administrative teams, and provincial stakeholders, you will play a key role in advancing system-wide improvements in wait times, referral quality, and appropriateness of care at first contact.
Description:
As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 10 years’ relevant nursing experience, including prior experience in a Clinical Nurse Educator or formal educator role. At least 3 years of experience with Connect Care training/workflows and 3 years in gastroenterology or endoscopy. Demonstrated expertise in clinical education, teaching, staff development, and leadership, including coaching and mentoring within healthcare settings. Experience in quality improvement and practice evaluation. Strong computer skills with intermediate Microsoft Office proficiency. Solid knowledge of clinical triage, patient navigation, centralized access models, and evidence-informed practice. Proven ability to assess learning needs, design and deliver adult education (e-learning, simulations, in-services), and evaluate program effectiveness using audits and quality indicators. Experience developing SOPs, workflows, triage algorithms, and documentation standards. Ability to collaborate across interdisciplinary teams, support implementation of new workflows, technologies (including Connect Care), and apply change management principles. Strong leadership skills in communication, facilitation, critical thinking, problem-solving, and conflict resolution. Knowledge of healthcare legislation and privacy (FOIP/HIA). Committed to patient-centered care aligned with quality dimensions. Travel between sites may be required.
Preferred Qualifications:CPR Instructor certification Candidates must be highly motivated and self-directed.
