The Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) Emergency Department is looking for an outstanding clinical nursing leader to provide front line leadership, mentorship, and education to emergency staff of all practice levels. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of education for staff with a focus on providing education, mentorship, and support in real time in the clinical setting. The RAH, centrally located in Edmonton’s downtown core, serves a diverse community including our provinces’ most vulnerable and marginalized populations. One of two major trauma centers in the city of Edmonton, the RAH provides care to patients with major/minor traumas, cardiac events, ophthalmologic and women’s health emergencies, surgical and general medical problems. As a CNE and clinical leader, you will have the opportunity to focus primarily on providing education, mentorship and coaching in real time to support the growth, development, confidence, and resiliency of staff so that we can provide the best care possible to our patients. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational, and evidence-based practice and will play a key role in providing safe, quality, trauma informed and patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Completion of an accredited nursing education program with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Active registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support-Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP), N95 fit testing and AHS required organizational learning modules. Employment in a tertiary trauma center Emergency department within the past 1 year. Minimum of 5 years clinical experience working in tertiary level trauma center Emergency department. Demonstrated coaching and mentoring skills and effective change management knowledge and experience. Must be self-directed and self-motivated with demonstrated time management skills with the ability to organize and prioritize competing demands. Strong interpersonal verbal and written communication skills is a must and the proven ability to collaborate in a team environment. Strong understanding and application of information and communication technologies. The successful candidate must have a proven record of a willingness to embrace change and be flexible to adapt to the constantly changing environment of the emergency department.
Preferred Qualifications:ED CNE experience. Emergency specialty certification (ENC(C)). Experience leading quality improvement initiatives and change management. ACLS, TNCC, PALS, NVCI, and Triage certification. Preference given to individuals with current instructor level CPR, TNCC, ACLS, PALS, NVCI, Triage, NRP.
