Instructor
Your Opportunity:
The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) is accountable for supporting and enhancing clinical competence within the Operating Room by aligning educational activities with evidence-based practice, organizational standards, and operational priorities. This role actively identifies gaps in perioperative nursing performance and leads purposeful educational and coaching interventions to address those gaps, ensuring staff are supported to achieve and maintain a competent working level. Education delivery extends beyond initial instruction and includes deliberate follow up, evaluation of learning transfer, and objective documentation of outcomes. The CNE collaborates closely with perioperative nursing staff to develop individualized and team-based learning plans and works in partnership with Unit Managers and program leadership to communicate progress, escalate concerns, and align educational priorities with service demands. A strong working knowledge of perioperative clinical equipment, instrumentation, technology, and surgical supplies is essential to support accurate, safe, and practical instruction. The CNE ensures staff develop proficiency and confidence with the tools and systems required for high quality surgical patient care across a range of procedures and clinical contexts. As part of the Mazankowski educator team, the CNE contributes to a collaborative, consistent, and system focused approach to education across programs. While this position is based in the Mazankowski Operating Room, there is an expectation of collaboration and cross coverage within Cardiac Sciences as required, reinforcing shared standards, continuity of practice, and collective accountability for clinical excellence. Clinical shifts including circulating and scrubbing is an expectation of the role to maintain competency.
