Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years clinical experience in an acute inpatient A&MH unit is required. Previous experience with a variety of treatment modalities in mental health required. Previous experience championing and or rolling out initiatives required. Understanding of clinical practice guidelines Sound knowledge of AHS/Recovery Alberta policies and critical thinking skills to guide decisions. Knowledge of the Addiction and Mental Health related resources across the Calgary Zone required. Demonstrated leadership, organizational and clinical skills in addition to being self-directed and able to work collaboratively in a team environment required. Computer proficiency and the ability to communicate efficiently (verbal & written) required. Knowledge of verbal de-escalation techniques required. Working Knowledge of Psychotropic medications required Experience in administering and teaching the Mental Status examination and knowledge of the Mental Health Act. Experience in various risk assessment i.e., Suicide risk, Homicidal risk, violent risk, COWs. Knowledge of the addiction and mental health continuum of care. Candidate should be willing to work flexible hours and be prepared to cover charge duties. Additionally, must have familiarity of the expectations of medical capabilities within mental health and be able to provide support to staff for treatment as directed, assess potential difficulties, and respond to medical emergencies.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in a teaching or education role preferred. Previous experience with a variety of research methodologies preferred. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024.
