Your Opportunity:
The Instructor OT Skin & Wound will advise and consult in advanced cases of skin and wound, ostomy and continence care with clients residing in continuing care settings (Long Term Care, Designated Supportive Living and Personal Care Homes). They will work directly with clients with bariatric needs to assist with safe transfer to continuing care beds and support identified equipment needs. Strong communication skills with an ability to build partnerships with AHS Partners and Contracted Operators. Provide consultation to Transition Services (TS), Integrated Supportive and Facility Living (ISFL) and Contracted Operators to assist system flow by supporting complex discharges to Continuing Care. The successful candidate must be able to manage competing priorities with an ability to adapt in a dynamic environment. The Instructor OT Skin & Wound will provide client assessments, collaborative care planning, developing and delivering flexible education to facilitate the adoption of best practices in skin and wound, ostomy and continence care management. The instructor will influence programming using an evidence informed lens to identify needs, make recommendations and evaluate outcomes to influence the quality of care to clients. This is achieved by providing direct consultation and by building competency of the interdisciplinary teams (including team members with varied levels of skills and experience).

As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Academic and clinical preparation in the area of wound management required e.g. IIWCC, NSWOC (other advanced education in Skin and Wound, Ostomy and Continence care may be considered if currently enrolled). Demonstrated leadership skills. Demonstrated Education development and delivery with adult based learning principles. Demonstrated history of creating respectful, collaborative partnerships with contracted service providers. Minimum 2 years of community experience.
Preferred Qualifications:ISFL experience preferred. LTC experience is an asset. Masters prepared is an asset. Minimum 5 years clinical practice in wound management preferred. Proven ability to interact effectively with clients with cognitive impairment.
