Required Qualifications:

Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) in good standing with an undergraduate degree is required. Also required, a minimum of three years’ direct experience working with Indigenous people in hospital or community-based case management, health promotion or public health.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Knowledge of case management/system navigation models and principles. Knowledge of trauma informed care. Understanding of historical, multi- and inter-generational trauma. Knowledge and supportive of mainstream health services and community resources, specifically Indigenous health programs and services in the South Zone area. Experience with and supportive of Indigenous traditional healing practices. Knowledge of specialty programs utilized by Indigenous residents (e.g. dialysis, diabetes education centres, etc.). Knowledge of tools, systems and databases used in client services delivery and case management. Familiarity with Indigenous communities, organizations and history. Indigenous cultural competency skills to increase and promote understanding with health care providers. Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) required. Superior interpersonal, collaboration, facilitation and negotiation skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an inter-disciplinary team environment. Willingness to participate in ongoing cultural learning and traditional teachings.

Preferred Qualifications:

Indigenous heritage is as asset. Fluency in an Indigenous language is an asset (preferably Blackfoot).
