Your Opportunity:

As an Identity and Access Cyber Security Analyst, you will play a key role in helping shape and strengthen identity security services within one of Canada's largest healthcare technology environments. Working within the Provincial IT Access Services team, you will support the organization's evolving cybersecurity, identity governance, and access management strategies while helping define the future direction of this newly established position. This role has been created to expand organizational capabilities in identity security, cloud access governance, privileged access management, and cybersecurity operations. As a new position, responsibilities will continue to evolve as organizational priorities, technologies, and security requirements mature. The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of processes, standards, operational practices, and service offerings that support secure access across clinical and corporate environments. Working collaboratively with infrastructure, security, cloud, messaging, and identity management teams, you will support technologies including Microsoft Entra ID, Azure, Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint Online, privileged access solutions, and identity governance services. You will help strengthen the organization's security posture through monitoring, analysis, reporting, automation, compliance activities, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position is ideal for an IT professional who enjoys building new capabilities, solving complex technical challenges, influencing operational practices, and helping define how identity and access security services evolve over time.

Description:

The Identity and Access Cyber Security Analyst is responsible for supporting and advancing identity and access management practices that ensure only authorized individuals receive appropriate access to organizational technology resources while maintaining security, compliance, and operational effectiveness. This position supports the organization's cybersecurity objectives across clinical and corporate environments. As a newly established position, the role is expected to evolve over time. While initial responsibilities focus on identity security, access governance, privileged access management, compliance, monitoring, reporting, and process improvement, additional accountabilities will be developed in response to changing business requirements, emerging technologies, cybersecurity risks, and organizational priorities. The analyst works closely with Information Technology, Identity and Access Management, Security Operations, Directory Services, Messaging, Cloud, and Digital Workspace teams to support and enhance identity-related services. Responsibilities may include evaluating access requests, administering identity technologies, enforcing least-privilege controls, supporting audits and compliance reviews, developing automation solutions, conducting access reviews, monitoring identity-related security risks, improving operational processes, and contributing to service development initiatives. The position is expected to provide subject matter expertise, identify opportunities for continuous improvement, participate in operational support activities, and contribute to the development of future identity security capabilities, standards, and services across the organization.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of a two-year post-secondary program in information technology, computer systems technology, cybersecurity, or a related discipline. Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered. Minimum five years of experience in a large, complex information technology environment. Experience supporting and administering Active Directory, Entra ID, LDAP, identity management systems, group policy management, and access provisioning processes. Experience working with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 technologies, including Entra ID, Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, and Conditional Access. Knowledge of identity and access management concepts, including MFA, SSO, IAM, RBAC, PIM, PAM, JIT and Zero Trust security principles. Intermediate to advanced PowerShell scripting skills. Knowledge of NTFS file systems, security identifiers (SIDs), directory services, and access control methodologies. Experience with change management and release management processes. Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability to assess, troubleshoot, and resolve complex identity and access management issues across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments. Experience evaluating access requirements and implementing least-privilege security controls. Knowledge of identity governance, privileged account management, authentication technologies, and access review processes. Experience monitoring security risks, vulnerabilities, and misconfigurations associated with user identities and privileged accounts. Ability to develop reporting, metrics, dashboards, and operational documentation to support continuous improvement initiatives. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, vendors, and project teams. Experience supporting audit, compliance, and security review activities. Ability to manage competing priorities, work independently, and perform effectively in a fast-paced operational environment. Willingness to participate in operational support and on-call rotations as required.


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Microsoft Defender for Identity, SIEM platforms, Quest Active Roles, Quest Privileged Access Management, NetApp ONTAPI, Visual Studio, or Visual Basic. Relevant cybersecurity certifications such as Security+, CISSP, or CISM are considered assets. ITIL certification, advanced Microsoft security experience, and experience automating administrative processes through scripting are preferred.
