Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Psychology, Ergonomics, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Design, User Experience/UX, Health Informatics). Combination of Bachelor’s degree, certification, or a minimum of 3 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a Master’s degree. Demonstrable human factors body of knowledge including concepts, processes, design principles and tools. In-depth knowledge of user-centered design methodologies including ethnographic studies, task and user analysis, heuristic evaluations, and usability testing. Ability to plan, prepare and conduct both formal and informal usability assessments. Experience building and maintaining collaborative relationships with team members. Excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentation and technical writing abilities. Strong analytical and problem solving abilities; detail-oriented, self-driven, fast learner. Demonstrable project management skills (setting and managing scope, tasks, team members, schedules). Ability to lead large provincial projects including planning and carrying out responsibilities with minimum supervision and prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines. Can balance multiple projects at the same time.
Additional Required Qualifications:Must be willing to travel throughout the province as needed. Must be comfortable working from home and also doing on-site consultation and field work at Alberta Health Services sites throughout Alberta.
Preferred Qualifications:Understanding of the healthcare industry. Experience applying human factors industry standards. Understanding of academic research and publishing. Experience developing design concepts, work flows, information architectures, wireframes, etc. Client-management skills. Experience leading a large-scale human factors/usability project(s). Experience working in a fast paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment. Five or more years of experience is preferred.
