Required Qualifications:

Required knowledge, skills and abilities: 3rd or 4th year undergraduate or graduate student specializing in human factors or a related field (e.g. Psychology, Industrial or Systems Engineering, Ergonomics, Computer Science, Biomedical or Clinical Engineering, Health Informatics, User Experience (UX), Information Design). Strong understanding of human factors including concepts, processes, design principles and tools. Knowledge of user-centered design methodologies including ethnographic studies, task and user analysis methods, heuristic evaluations, usability testing and experimental design. Analytical and problem-solving abilities with “out of the box” creative thinking. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience working in a team environment. Interest in patient safety and quality improvement in healthcare.

Additional Required Qualifications:

To be considered for employment all candidates must be: Registered as a full-time post-secondary student in an accredited institution. Currently recognized as having full-time status by the academic institution. Returning for courses in the next academic term. Legally entitled to work in Canada. Willing to travel locally and throughout the province as needed. Able to self-fund temporarily relocating to Alberta (if applicable).

Preferred Qualifications:

Understanding of the healthcare industry. Experience working independently and remotely. Experience with research processes and publishing. Attention to detail. Ability to time manage several projects and tasks at the same time.
