Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of a recognized two-year Horticulture program or equivalent certification (such as Master Gardener designation) is required. A valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record is essential. The successful candidate must demonstrate experience with materials, tools, and equipment associated with groundskeeping, landscaping, horticultural maintenance, and snow removal operations, along with the ability to identify, assess, and prioritize maintenance needs within a complex campus environment. This role requires the physical capability to perform demanding outdoor work, including lifting heavy objects, operating equipment, and completing repetitive manual tasks. The incumbent must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and environmental extremes, including heat, cold, wind, precipitation, and uneven terrain. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision are essential, as is the ability to function effectively within a team environment. Demonstrated leadership skills to provide work direction and coordinate maintenance activities are required. The candidate must communicate clearly and professionally in English, both written and verbal, and work cooperatively with management, supervisory staff, and hospital personnel. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with building maintenance or work order management systems are also required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Mechanical aptitude and experience with equipment maintenance would be an asset. Pesticide applicator license would be an asset.
