Required Qualifications:

Completion of diploma from an accredited Health Information Management Professional (HIMP) program. Active or eligible for registration with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS: Please note that qualifications are listed in order of preference. Candidates that meet the required qualifications must successfully challenge the Alberta Health Services, Calgary Zone & Area, Health Information Management Coding Test, with a passing grade of 75%, in order to be selected for an Interview. Excellent knowledge and expertise of medical terminology, anatomy and disease process. Demonstrated knowledge and application of coding and abstracting skill. Demonstrated skills with personal computer (Windows, MS Office) & keyboarding skills with ability to handle multiple software and resource access. Strong ability to maintain accuracy of information, to organize and prioritize workload to meet established deadlines. Ability to work well within a team environment & shared work spaces. Ability to concentrate for extended periods of time. Excellent communication skills in reading, writing, comprehension and oral communication.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum of 1 year relevant DAD and/or NACRS (Inpatient, Emergency Department, Day Surgery, and Outpatient Clinic visits). ICD-10-CA/CCI coding experience with excellent knowledge of CIHI DAD & Alberta Ambulatory Care Data Collection Standards. Knowledge of related legislation regarding access, privacy and disclosure of patient information. Ability to foster good communication with peers, physicians and allied health professionals.
