Assisted Living Alberta is dedicated to Enhancing Care in the Community, helping people be healthy, well and independent in their homes and communities. Continuing Care Edmonton Zone (CCEZ) provides services through five main program areas: Home Living (HCC Type 1 & 2), Supportive Living (CCH Type B), Facility Living (CCH Type A), Palliative and End of Life Care, CHOICE & Adult Day Programs and Transition Services. The Health Educator is a member of the Education & Practice Development team. They are responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating orientation and education. The education provided by this position supports the clinical practice of frontline staff, while collaborating and coordinating with operational areas. Key Responsibilities: Collaborates with stakeholders to plan and implement education related to changes in policy, procedures, protocols, clinical practice initiatives and technology that impacts and supports best practice and quality improvement. Identifies gaps in knowledge and promotes clinical competence. Fosters leadership/mentorship support to team members. Provides in time learning that impacts clinicians to respond to priorities and learning needs. Creates and maintains clinical resources. Adheres to a professional Code of Ethics, policies and procedures that guide their work.
Description:
As a Health Educator, you will promote existing courses, as well as develop, coordinate and deliver educational activities to support staff learning based on a patient-centered care model. You will collaborate with Health Educators from all the Zones and relevant initiatives.

Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the applicable college.
Additional Required Qualifications:Baccalaureate Degree in Health Sciences is required from an accredited university (OT, PT, Dietician, Speech Language Pathologist, Social Worker etc.). A minimum of 3 years of recent health care experience. Experience as a facilitator/educator and knowledge of adult learning principles. Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP). Valid driver’s license and a vehicle in good repair for work-related travel. Demonstrated strong and effective communication and organizational skills. Leadership skills include demonstrated ability to work with various partners. Ability to inspire, influence change and build confidence in others. Use critical thinking to guide decisions. Physical Exertion: Frequent physical demands including lifting, pulling and pushing, and moving equipment; standing for extended periods of time; sitting for extended periods of time is required. Able to carry supply bags which weigh approx. 35-50 lbs. Possibility of shift work and extended hours.
Preferred Qualifications:Master’s degree in a relevant field (healthcare, education, or business). Strong clinical background working in community (palliative & dementia experience, etc.). Connect Care experience. Demonstrated project & change management skills. Experience with use of data to support quality improvement. Technical skills in Microsoft Office, Teams, SharePoint Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio and Zoom to deliver virtual education. Demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development.
