The Nursing Attendant provides resident care services as an unregulated worker, under the direct supervision of the RN or LPN. As a member of our nursing team, you will demonstrate genuine interest and respect for our residents and utilize your knowledge, skills and abilities to competently provide direct care to our residents. Resident care includes assisting with activities of daily living and other nursing related activities. Myron Thompson Health Centre is in a rural community in west central Alberta. We work in a multidisciplinary team to provide nursing care in a blended acute/ER and continuing care environment. The Myron Thompson Health Centre is an intimate team environment providing care with 14 acute care beds, 5 long-term care beds, 4 restorative care beds and a five stretcher emergency department. Description:
As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team, providing personal assistance by supporting activities of daily living and delivering support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short term assistance or ongoing support, in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. In this role, you will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers across the continuum of care in home, community, and health care facilities. You will assist nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs; assist with organized activities or programs; and observe and report on patients' mood, health, and wellbeing. Working under the supervision of a regulated health professional, you will assist in maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors, while supporting effective communication with patients and health care professionals. PLEASE NOTE: Until a new hire provides proof of HCA certification, they will be paid at the uncertified pay grade in accordance with the AUPE AUX Collective Agreement.

Active or eligible for registration or practice permit with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA) as a Health Care Aide, along with proof of education or completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire.
Additional Required Qualifications:Evident upkeep of annual continuing education within AHS or other employer’s equivalency in: AHS orientation, CPR – C, It’s Your Move, Alberta Continuing Care Health Service Standards, Protection of Persons in Care, Patient and Family Centered Care 101, Understanding Responsive Behaviors or Supportive Pathways, Emergency Response Codes (10), Palliative Care for Support Workers, Medication Assistance in Long Term Care, Safe Bathing Competency, AHS Secure – collect it protect it, Infection Prevention and Control, Respect in the Workplace, Patient Relations, Ethics Governance Documents Policies and Procedures, RAI-MDS Paper Tracking Tool. AHS internal applicants; provide a copy of My Learning Link education report attached to application.
