Health Care Aide
Your Opportunity:
Vermilion Home Care is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Health Care Aide to join our Continuing Care team in Vermilion, Alberta. HCAs play a vital role in supporting clients to live safely and comfortably in their homes, promoting independence, dignity, and quality of life. As an integral member of an interdisciplinary team, you will provide person centered care while upholding AHS values of compassion, accountability, respect, excellence, and safety. The Health Care Aide provides direct client care and support in accordance with ALA policies, professional standards, and the Health Care Aide Competency Profile. Responsibilities include: Assisting clients with personal care (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting). Supporting mobility, transfers, and positioning. Observing and reporting changes in client condition to the supervising nurse. Assisting with meal preparation, feeding, and hydration. Supporting clients with activities of daily living to maintain independence. Documenting care using approved charting practices and digital systems. Maintaining a safe, clean, and supportive environment.
Description:
As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team, providing personal assistance by supporting activities of daily living and delivering support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short term assistance or ongoing support, in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. In this role, you will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers across the continuum of care in home, community, and health care facilities. You will assist nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs; assist with organized activities or programs; and observe and report on patients' mood, health, and wellbeing. Working under the supervision of a regulated health professional, you will assist in maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors, while supporting effective communication with patients and health care professionals. PLEASE NOTE: Until a new hire provides proof of HCA certification, they will be paid at the uncertified pay grade in accordance with the AUPE AUX Collective Agreement.

Active or eligible for registration or practice permit with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA) as a Health Care Aide, along with proof of education or completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire.
Additional Required Qualifications:Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative care team. Able to travel on varying road conditions and comfort navigating highways and rural roads.
Preferred Qualifications:Connect Care experience. Home Care / Continuing Care experience. Palliative Respite care experience. Experience working with seniors, persons with disabilities, or medically complex clients. Medication Assistance Program education. Current BLS qualifications.
