Galahad Care Centre is a 15 bed DSL 4/4D unit located in a rural setting where HCAs work within an interdisciplinary team environment to provide client centered care. As an HCA and member of our nursing care team, you will demonstrate genuine interest and respect for our residents and utilize your knowledge, skills, and abilities to competently provide direct resident centered care. This environment is suitable for candidates who have a strong interest and skills in providing care to the elderly residents, including those diagnosed with Alzheimer disease or other dementia. The Village of Galahad is situated just north of the beautiful Battle River valley, centered between Killam and Castor on Highways 861 and 36, and 9 kilometers east of Forestburg off Highway 53. Our town is a quiet family-oriented municipality of about a 150 strong with a mix of all age groups. The community is graced with riches of the soil and a wealth of resources with vibrant oil, coal mining and electrical power production. Galahad enjoys a trading area with traditional roots in agriculture and oil and gas development providing for a diversified economic base. The Village is also located directly in the flightpath of migratory bird species who like to take advantage of the many pea and grain fields and abundant coulees with ample water and resting areas, making this a haven for duck and geese hunting and serving hunters from far and wide.

Description:

As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) with Heart and Stroke Foundation. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position: This position requires frequent physical demands including walking, bending, lifting, and standing for long periods of time. Transferring patients of varying sizes and degrees of mobility. Basic computer skills knowledge of Outlook and MS Teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

Medication Assistance Certification.
