Required Qualifications:

- As a condition of employment at AHS, you must be enrolled in the Government of Alberta-Health Care Aide Directory and provide evidence of your enrollment at time of hire and annually thereafter. For more information on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory, please visit: www.albertahcadirectory.com. - In addition, you must meet one of the following Alberta Health Services (AHS) Health Care Aide (HCA) competency requirement and provide evidence at time of hire: a) Certified - certified as a Health Care Aide through a Government of Alberta licensed post-secondary institution using the Provincial Health Care Aide Curriculum; or b) Substantially Equivalent - an educational background deemed equivalent as compared to the approved Provincial Health Care Aide Curriculum; or c) Deemed Competent - assessed as competent by an Alberta regulated nurse, using the Provincial Competency Assessment Profile Tool.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of a Health Care Aide Certificate from an Accredited College/Program is required. Equivalent experience/education will be considered. BLS-HCP and /or first aid training. The ability to apply Health and Safety principles in delivering care to clients in the community, to work effectively and cooperatively with others and to set priorities by organizing and scheduling work-related activities is essential. A valid full driver’s license (non GDL) and a reliable vehicle for travel is required. Ability to meet physical demands of the job. An excellent attendance record, reliability and personal suitability must be demonstrated through your employment references. New employees must provide a criminal records check (at their own expense) in compliance with the Protection for Persons in Care Act. Smoking restrictions are in effect. Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in the health care field and work with older or chronically ill individuals is desirable. Medication Assistance training is preferred. Familiarity with PC, Internet and Microsoft applications is an asset.
