Required Qualifications:

Must meet one of the Alberta Health Services (AHS) Health Care Aide (HCA) competency requirements: Certified - certified as a Health Care Aide through a Government of Alberta licensed post-secondary institution using the Provincial Health Care Aide Curriculum. Evidence required upon hire; or Substantially Equivalent - an educational background deemed equivalent as compared to the approved Provincial Health Care Aide Curriculum. Evidence required upon hire; or Deemed Competent - assessed as competent by an Alberta regulated nurse, using the Provincial Competency Assessment Profile Tool. Evidence required upon hire; or candidate would be required to register for a HCA course from a Government of Alberta licensed post-secondary institution using the Provincial Health Care Aide Curriculum within 155 hours or 6 weeks (whichever comes first), and successfully complete the course within 12 month timeline from date of hire.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Evidence is required of current BCLP-HCP. It is essential that you follow good practices and apply Health and Safety principles when delivering care; with particular focus on IPC issues. On-going education to meet CCHSS standards and AHS qualifications is mandatory and documentation that such education requirements are being met must be submitted on a regular basis. Evidence required of a Class 5 Driver’s license (GDL license is not acceptable). A Must be willing and able to work effectively; both on your own and co-operatively in a team environment. Must be organized and be able to set priorities to complete assigned work within scheduled times. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position. PC Computer and experience in the use of Microsoft Programs is highly recommended.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in both Home Care and Long Term Care environments is as asset. Medication Assistance Certification is an asset.
