The successful candidate will possess a degree in public relations, communications or journalism, and 10 years of experience in communications and strategic planning, including five years of experience in a senior management role with an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity. A combination of educational qualifications and experience may be considered. The successful candidate will demonstrate experience and knowledge in all facets of strategic communications, including media relations, crisis management, government relations, internal communications, and strategic web and online communications.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated excellence in all facets of strategic communications, including media relations, crisis management, government relations, internal communications, and strategic web and online communications. Proven ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences, including interpersonal, government relations, and public relations skills. Strong sense of integrity with a track record of ethical behaviour. Demonstrated leadership abilities, including comfort with decision-making and exercising sound judgement. Proven ability to foster partnerships to achieve organizational goals. Demonstrated ability to develop organizational strategy and planning. Demonstrated ability to lead strategic initiatives and manage change to achieve positive results. Ability to influence, negotiate, and mediate resolutions to complex situations. Demonstrated ability to model innovation and creativity.
Preferred Qualifications:
A graduate degree is preferred. Professional accreditation through Canadian Public Relations Society or International Association of Business Communicators is preferred. Previous experience providing communications expertise within a healthcare organization is an asset.
