Your Opportunity:

The Executive Director, Business Support Services (BSS) is a leadership role in the Human Resources and Scheduling Shared Services portfolio and reports to the Senior Program Officer, HR Shared Services and Scheduling Shared Services. This position provides leadership to a portfolio within Shared Services which consists of four significant areas of accountability Training & Change Management, Business Support Services, Workforce Management and Learning Services. The Executive Director, Business Support Services, provides direct support and expert counsel to the Senior Program Officer, Human Resource Shared Services and Scheduling Shared Services in addition to the Senior Management Team on all aspects of the implementation of Human Resources Shared Services and Scheduling Shared Services training, change management, projects and business application support management for AHS and its affiliates. These business support teams support all HR Shared Services and Scheduling operational teams and therefore, the scope of responsibility and knowledge required to provide this support is extensive covering multiple functional areas across numerous organizations.

Description:

This position is accountable for service to AHS and affiliates objectives regarding implementation, operationalization, management, training and monitoring of provincially integrated delivery of HR and scheduling common processes for Alberta Health services and affiliates and quality measurement programs in the most effective, leading manner. Other responsibilities include setting strategic direction for Training and Change Management, Human Resource Management and Scheduling Business Application Support and process improvements that may result in significant project Implementations; providing team leadership and project management expertise in business analysis and problem solving as it relates to Human Resources, Training, Scheduling, HR Management and Business Applications that support end user functionality; liaising with key stakeholders, identification of systemic customer-execution opportunities, facilitation of root-cause correction across all disciplines and stakeholder engagement; ensuring consistent and integrated program planning, delivery and evaluation of BSS project management services, sets and strategizes targets, allocates human and financial resources, manages change and risk, triages and communicates assignments; and provides direct support and expert counsel to the Senior Program Officer and to other members of the senior management team on all aspects of project management.

Required Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and/ or a combination of experience and education will be considered. Project Management Professional Designation and/or equivalent experience may be considered. Knowledge and experience working with HR and Scheduling management systems. Working knowledge of HR Information Systems and HR processes (PeopleSoft preferred) Scheduling Service Centre business knowledge and applications (ESP, WFM) and tools is needed. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development is necessary. Experience managing multiple teams of people, working in large, complex organizations with varied workforce and systems. In-depth knowledge of HR Management Systems is an asset. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. Must have advanced problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills including being able to facilitate and influence issue resolution of a variety of problems. Must be adept at working in a fast-paced challenging environment and able to handle multiple assignments/projects concurrently.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Shared Service, HRIS, Scheduling and Project implementation experience, preferably Human Resources and/or Scheduling, in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity (health care experience is an asset). A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior leadership role is required. The incumbent will possess a record of accomplishment in the following areas: successful record of achievement as a leader, including a role in quickly building up a high performance teams; Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, client focused orientation and commitment to providing long term quality services; Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and mentoring, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others; Ability to manage diverse human, financial and physical resources within a complex production based environment; and proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals within a large, diverse organization and managing within a unionized sector. The successful candidate must have experience in leading concurrent multi-disciplinary, complex initiatives. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary. Exhibit characteristics of servant leadership, encouraging the growth and development of the team.


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in a Shared Services environment. Healthcare experience is an asset. Strong organizational skills are required. Experience in the design and support of an enterprise HCM Systems (PeopleSoft) and ERPs is highly desirable.
