Required Qualifications:

Undergraduate degree in a health sciences field or related area. Six years of progressive, diverse healthcare leadership experience in a health care organization of significant size, complexity and diversity. Demonstrated clear pattern of progressive professional and personal development. Clinical or administrator experience in Diabetes, Obesity or Nutrition. Experience in resource management including planning and budgetary accountability. Excellent communication skills – both written & verbal. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision. Able to achieve objectives and drive to results. Demonstrated ability to facilitate change in areas without operational control over a large organization, preferable on a provincial scale. Experience in initiating and fostering positive relationships and productive partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders. Ability to deal with highly complex or sensitive issues in a professional manner. Experience in facilitating presentations to convey information or transfer knowledge.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Ability to identify risk potential of projects and initiatives throughout the breadth and depth of AHS and bring these to attention of SCN. Ability to put forward effective mitigation strategies for such risks. Proven abilities in complex problem solving, concerns resolution, investigation, and negotiation. Recognized as a leader with successful experience in strategic human resource management and development. Considerable skill is needed to balance diverse and, occasionally conflicting, stakeholder interests.


Preferred Qualifications:

Graduate degree in health care management, business administration or related field. Significant experience in leading and supervising staff within a health care environment. Experience in leading senior level research projects or teams. Clear understanding of AHS and Alberta Health goals to incorporate these into all planning and documentation.
