Your Opportunity:

The Environmental II duties range from light dusting to heavy cleaning all surface areas, including walls, ceilings, vents, mirrors, windows, door and light fixtures throughout the site. The Environmental II performs floor maintenance duties including dry and wet mopping, floor scrubbing, stripping, waxing, and shampooing. The Environmental II ensures that adequate supplies in patient care, offices, and staff areas are available. The transportation and arranging of heavy furniture and equipment using dollies, carts, or manually may be required to perform these duties. This position will comply with Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) and other safety and infection control regulations, policies, and procedures.

Description:

As an Environmental II, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks associated with intensive or specialized cleaning within a hospital or facility associated with industrial cleaning supplies and by using powered industrial equipment. Your typical duties may include operating industrial cleaning equipment for floor maintenance, thorough washing of ceilings and windows and emptying hazardous waste. You may also provide training/orientation to Environmental staff.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent. Physically capable to walk and/or stand for the duration of your shift, and perform repetitive physical movements.

Additional Required Qualifications:

General knowledge of cleaning techniques and methods required. Good interpersonal skills required. Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written format. Able to perform physical demands such as bending, climbing ladders, mopping, use of power cleaning equipment and be capable of lifting 25-50 pounds on a regular basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

Successful completion of a basic housekeeping program is an asset.
