Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Primary Care Paramedic program. Active registration with Alberta College of Paramedics (ACP) as Primary Care Paramedic. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP). Completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test taken no more than six months from the application date.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Knowledge of Physical and Mental Status Assessments are required. Experience interacting effectively with diverse populations including gender, cultural, sexual and socio-economic, particularly the homeless and people who use drugs. Self-directed and exercise independent decision making, sound nursing judgment and critical thinking skills to respond quickly and appropriately to the changing priorities. Strong skills in de-escalating situations of agitation and aggression. Proficient in emergency response especially in overdose response (e.g. airway management, naloxone administration). Strong leadership skills including the ability to identify safety concerns and mentor staff. Able to exhibit excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively maintain collaborative working relationships with the interdisciplinary team and strong time management and prioritization skills, with a demonstrated ability to function effectively within a dynamic environment. Proficient and knowledgeable with Microsoft Office programs and data management programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Two years of EMT Ambulance experience is preferred. Leadership experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. Knowledge and understanding of blood borne pathogens and sexually transmitted infections is an asset. Knowledge and experience utilizing the principles and practice of harm reduction, including prevention, recognition and response to opioid overdose is preferred. Experience working with marginalized and diverse populations is an asset.
