Completion of grade 12 diploma or recognized equivalent. Must be eligible to apply and be accepted into an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) program approved by the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACOP) and must enroll within 12 weeks of hire and complete the program within 12 months. Valid Alberta Class 5 Non-GDL Driver¿s Licence with less than three (3) demerit points. Ability to apply for an Alberta Class 4 licence or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Understanding of EMS team roles and patient care principles. Demonstrates professionalism, empathy, responsibility, and accountability. Excellent communication and time-management skills. Physically fit and capable of lifting/moving equipment. Available to work a rotating schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays. Able to obtain non-restricted registration as an EMR with the Alberta College of Paramedics after EMR graduation. Able to successfully complete all required qualifications of the EMR role, including but not limited to: Non-restricted registration in good standing with the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACOP) as Emergency Medical Responder (EMR). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP). Must be able to obtain a valid class 4 Alberta Operator License or equivalent. Successful completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test via the certificate provided by the Lifemark. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience in a youth EMS program, lifeguarding, first response, or ski patrol. Certificate of successful completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation offered by Lifemark required for transition to EMR.
