Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Journeyperson Electrician Certificate with Red Seal from Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training. Must hold a valid Class 5 Alberta Operator's Licence.

Additional Required Qualifications:

First class Journeyman Electrician’s Certificate for the Province of Alberta, Government Fire Alarm Certificate. Seasoned/Specialized technical/professional experience (i.e. 5-7 years) required. Due to the complexity and interrelationships of the various critical electrical and mechanical systems, this results in the potential for sigificant disruption to the operation of the hospital if an error is made during a maintenance procedure on some of the systems. Ability to troubleshoot and analyze electrical system and equipment problems. Very good verbal and written communication skills. Must be reliable, cooperative, and capable of working independently. Must possess initiative and be capable of giving direction and supervision as required. Must be familiar with a variety of electrical systems and equipment used in the maintenance program. Ability to work under emergency conditions and in difficult situations. Alert for occupational hazards of working with electrical power systems. Must be thoroughly familiar with all tools and equipment used in the trade and knowledgeable of the electrical code and all safety regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certified Master's Certificate. Level I IR Thermography Certificate. Good understanding of the CSA 317.13. Experience with low and medium voltage distribution.
