Your Opportunity:

The Practice Education Consultant (PEC) reports directly to the HPSP Manager of the Student Placement Team. This position is accountable to provide consultation services related to practice education/student placement experiences for allied health disciplines and to work closely with and provide support and oversight to the Student Placement Team Allied Health Receiving Coordinators for Allied Health disciplines placements across the Province. The PEC will develop and maintain strong positive working relationships with key local, Provincial and Canadian, internal and external stakeholders. The PEC is accountable for providing consultation liaison and collaboration between AHS, our Post-Secondary Institutions (PSI) partners and health discipline regulatory bodies. The role also includes developing, implementing and evaluating strategic initiatives with a focus on practice education. The PEC activities are aligned with AHS standards, regulatory standards and scope of practice for regulated and unregulated direct healthcare providers and compliant with applicable legislation agreements, contracts and AHS policy affecting staff, students and PSI partners. Further responsibilities consist of developing and providing education and training to all Post-Secondary Institutions Placement Coordinators and Leaders on Student team projects such as Connect Care implementation. The Allied Health portfolio is complex and diverse and includes several out of province Placing Coordinators who cannot utilize HSPnet and this requires additional communication.

Description:

As an Education Consultant II, you will be working closely with interdisciplinary professionals with a variety of backgrounds, where you will provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of staff development, professional development, patient education and consumer health education programs. By collaborating with key stakeholders, you will identify, prioritize and evaluate professional and clinical needs of staff, assisting staff with effective problem-solving and improving patient care outcomes. This includes the development and delivery of seminars, workshops and other clinical education opportunities within your assigned program.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor's degree in a health or education related field.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor's degree in a health or education related field. Degree preference in an Allied Health discipline. Registered with applicable regulatory/licensing body. A minimum of 5 years in a clinical role in a direct patient care environment in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity. Substantial involvement in the coordination of placements and/or student supervision/teaching in the previous 5 years.

Preferred Qualifications:

Healthcare practice consultation or professional development experience. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to support preparation of briefing notes, presentations and reports. Proficiency in computer skills and advanced Microsoft Office skills. Previous experience in a position with a Post-Secondary Institution may be an asset to this role. Experience with HSPnet.
