Your Opportunity:

The Director, Seniors Specialty Services; Home Care Lead (East) reports directly to the Senior Operating Officer – Public, Primary & Seniors Health; Rural Site Lead South Zone (SZ). Accountable for the delivery of high quality, accessible, sustainable, patient and family focused care; overall strategic implementation and operational planning for the assigned clinical operations program(s) ensuring alignment with provincial program strategies and SZ strategic and operational plans. Develops and implements program plans, ensuring the effective deployment of resources, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and developing collaborative relationships with SZ sites and provincial programs. Works collaboratively with other zone program directors to ensure programs are integrated and focused on improving patient care. The Director will also work with provincial teams and SCNs, where applicable, to influence, inform, provincial strategy development, implementation and integration. Zone-wide program responsibilities include: Palliative Care. Seniors Health staff education programming and delivery across all AHS provided services/staff in the zone. Geriatrician clinics/support and Psycho-geriatric/specialty teams. General Operational Responsibilities include: Home Care case management and core services in all environments (SL, Congregate, Homes, etc.) in assigned geographic area. Delivery of quality residential-based care and home care services through the management of contracted agreements. Coordinate the linkage between AHS clinical operations and contracted services providers. Support the achievement of Health and Accommodation Standards by contracted providers. Liaise with the Quality Improvement program’s Seniors Quality/Audit Team.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum of post-secondary education in a health profession. The incumbent will demonstrate a clear pattern of professions and personal development.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Progressive leadership experience in a healthcare environment, including a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a management role in clinical services or health care operations for the assigned program(s), in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity. Demonstrated record of achievement as a manager, including extensive experience in improvement and innovation of services provided in a diverse clinical setting. Practical experience in strategy, policy development, project and program management. Demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues. Ability to manage diverse human, financial and physical resources within a complex environment. Strong organizational skills, client-focused orientation and commitment to providing long-term quality services. Experience in collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals. Leadership skills, including effective communication skills, demonstrated ability and comfort with decision-making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals within a large, diverse organization and managing within a unionized sector. Ability to foster a climate of cooperation among, and build solid relationships with, public agencies, government, boards, committees and other partners.


Preferred Qualifications:

Related bachelor’s or master’s graduate degree preferred. Clinical contract management experience is an asset.
