Your Opportunity:

Alberta Health Services has an exciting opportunity to join the South Zone as the Director, Rural Sites (west). The position reports to the Senior Operating Officer, Public, Primary and Seniors Health; Rural Lead. Working in a dyad relationship with medical leadership, is accountable for the delivery of high quality, accessible, sustainable, patient and family focused care for the assigned rural area including Raymond, Cardston, Fort Macleod, Pincher Creek, Crowsnest Pass and liaison for contracted services in Picture Butte.

Description:

The role is accountable for the strategic implementation and overall operational planning ensuring alignment with South Zone strategic and operational plans. This includes developing and implementing site-based plans, ensuring effective deployment of resources and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Establishes and maintains strong partnerships with program directors, senior leaders within South Zone and across AHS. Works collaboratively with clients and families as partners in care. Also develops and maintains strong external relationships with local community stakeholders including government officials, advisory councils and foundations. Leads the clinical operations of the assigned rural sites ensuring effective deployment of human resources, creating a safe, healthy and inclusive workplace. Ensures appropriate allocation of fiscal resources, manages and reports on operating budget. Coordinates patient flow with other clinical operations leaders to ensure patients move through the sites as effectively as possible. The Director will be dynamic and outgoing professional who excels in communication skills, working in a very fast paced work environment.

Required Qualifications:

A minimum of Bachelors education in a health profession. The incumbent will demonstrate a clear pattern of professional and personal development. Progressive leadership experience in a healthcare environment, including a minimum of five years’ experience in a management role in clinical services or health care operations for the assigned program(s), in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Demonstrated record of achievement as a manager, including extensive experience in improvement and innovation of services provided in a diverse clinical setting. Practical experience in strategy, policy development, project and program management. Uses strategic thinking, taking into account long-term goals assessing options and implications. Demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues. Ability to manage diverse human, financial and physical resources within a complex environment. Strong organizational skills, client-focused orientation and commitment to providing long-term quality services. Experience in collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals. Leadership skills, including effective communication skills, demonstrated ability and comfort with decision-making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals within a large, diverse organization and managing within a unionized sector. Ability to foster a climate of cooperation among, and build solid relationships with, public agencies, government, boards, committees and other partners.


Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum Bachelors and related Masters preferred. Clinical contract management experience is an asset.
