Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Executive Director, Psycho-Social-Spiritual Practice and Allied Health Workforce Planning, the Spiritual Care Practice Director (PD) is a strategic leader within Health Professions Strategy and Practice. As the most senior Spiritual Health Practitioner practice role in the public health system, the PD provides leadership and direction in the development, implementation, and evaluation of multiple transformational and complex provincial projects across AHS. This role shapes and directs the practice of Spiritual Health Practitioners in an interprofessional context and strategically addresses workforce challenges and opportunities. Taking a proactive approach, this role develops evidence and best practice-based care models and drives innovation and improvement and creates sustainable and quality professional practice. The PD builds coalitions and leads interactions among internal and external partners, academic institutions, government, and professional associations provincially and nationally to lead practice innovation and knowledge.

Required Qualifications:

Certification with the Canadian Association of Spiritual Care is required. Master’s Degree. Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Spiritual Health Practitioner. Evidence of significant depth and breadth of expertise in Spiritual Care with knowledge of other disciplines across sectors and the care continuum. Ability to present complex ideas, anticipate potential barriers and influence others to adopt a preferred point of view or direction.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Evidence of strategic and system level thinking and action. Proven abilities in complex problem solving, concerns resolution, investigation, and negotiation. Ability to identify risk potential of projects and initiatives and bring these to attention of the organization. Ability to put forward effective mitigation strategies for such risks. Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals. Ability to foster a climate of collaboration and cooperation among, and build solid relationships with, public agencies, government, boards, committees and other stakeholders/partners. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching, mentoring and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others.
