The Director is a leadership role in the Addiction and Mental Health (A&MH), Calgary Zone Portfolio and reports directly to the Executive Director, Addiction and Mental Health, Calgary Zone. This position is responsible and accountable for leading an operational team in the planning, delivery and evaluation of Addiction and Mental Health programs and services in support of the vision, mission and business plan of Recovery Alberta. The Director will develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders and leaders in order to provide operational leadership to and oversee all related programs and services. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Description:

This position establishes and maintains positive relationships with key local, provincial and national representatives and health care stakeholders including government departments and officials. The Director is accountable for the implementation, operationalization, management and monitoring of Addiction and Mental Health services and quality measurement programs in the most effective, leading manner. The Director, Addiction and Mental Health is also responsible for: Sustaining linkages with related service providers in the continuum of care. Setting the direction and clinical coordination with relevant contracted services. Working collaboratively with other health care services both on acute care sites and in the community. Acting as a liaison between Addiction and Mental Health and Primary Care Networks. The Director works within Recovery Alberta's clinical dyad model of physician and administrative co-leads to advance accessible and quality patient-focused health services in a sustainable manner.

Required Qualifications:

Undergraduate Degree in a health related, administrative or business discipline. A minimum of 5 years in a mental health and/or health related role in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity. The incumbent will demonstrate a clear pattern of professional and personal development. In addition, the incumbent will possess a record of accomplishment in the following areas: Progressive senior leadership experience in a health care or mental health care environment, including five years’ experience in a management role in health or mental health. Practical experience in strategy, policy development, leadership, and project and program management. Knowledge and demonstrated application of business planning, modeling concepts, and program and project management theories, principles and practices. Uses strategic thinking, taking into account long-term goals assessing options and implications. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, client focused orientation and commitment to providing quality services.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues. Ability to manage diverse human, financial and physical resources in a changing and multifaceted environment with diverse, complex and sensitive issues. Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals within a large, diverse organization and managing within a unionized sector. Ability to foster a climate of cooperation amongst, and build solid relationships with, public agencies, government, boards, committees and other partners. Demonstrated skills in leadership, facilitation, negotiation, networking, communication and systems approach to problem solving.


Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in a health related, administrative or business discipline.
