Your Opportunity:
The Wellness Centre (WC) at South Health Campus (SHC) in Calgary seeks a full-time Teaching Kitchen Coordinator. SHC connects hospital care with community services, promotes wellness, treats illness, & encourages healthcare providers to find innovative ways to partner with patients & families. The WC connects people to information & resources to support informed decision making about health. It includes a broadcast media-equipped teaching kitchen (Wellness Kitchen (WK)) that provides a range of in-person & live online culinary medicine classes where people can build healthy food & cooking skills using basic ingredients & kitchen equipment. Reporting to the WC Manager & working as part of a small team, this role provides leadership, coordination, integration, & operational support for the WK. The position plays a key role in developing strategic plans to advance the growth, development, delivery, evaluation, & health-system integration of evidence based culinary medicine programs. Key Responsibilities Lead the design, implementation, & evaluation of programs that complement clinical services. Collaborate with clinical teams & partners to align programming with patient & provider needs. Serve as a culinary medicine expert, applying current research & best practices. Occasionally co-facilitate patient programs or act as primary facilitator. Mentor & supervise dietetic interns with the manager. Develop & deliver culinary medicine training for students & healthcare providers. Provide operational leadership for the WK, ensuring a safe, clean, & well organized environment to support program delivery. Coordinate program schedules, logistics, evaluation processes, & QI activities. Provide direction to the Service Assistant to maintain high standards of safety, organization & program delivery.
Description:
As a Dietitian I, you may provide nutrition expertise to patients (clients, residents) in various AHS facilities and community settings to achieve nutrition and health outcomes. You may be responsible for nutrition assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of nutrition care plans. You may plan and provide public health nutrition services and education programs to promote healthy living and disease prevention for clients/groups in facilities or community settings. Nutrition education is provided to students and other healthcare professionals to support delivery of evidence based nutrition information.

Bachelor of Science with a major in Foods and Nutrition. Completion of an internship program or practicum training program accredited by the Dietitians of Canada. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Dietitians of Alberta (CDA).
Additional Required Qualifications:3–5 years’ experience in nutrition education or food skills programming in public health, chronic disease management, primary care, private practice, or equivalent. Ability to stand for long periods (2-4 hours) & lift up to 25 lbs. Strong collaboration skills & ability to manage multiple priorities. Knowledge of adult education & Patient & Family Centred Care principles. Skilled and physically able to facilitate hands on food skills education for adults and/or youth. Experience in program planning, implementation, monitoring, & evaluation. Strong critical thinking, creativity, & problem solving abilities. Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal & presentation skills in English. Effective collaborator with ability to communicate effectively with professional & non-professional partners. Advanced proficiency with digital tools (Outlook, MS Office, Visio, Adobe, Zoom, MS Teams). Strong organizational & time management skills; ability to balance strategic and detailed work. Self directed, accountable, & effective at working independently & collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications:Professional culinary training & knowledge of commercial kitchen management. Healthy Minister approved Food Safety Certification. Extensive knowledge or training in culinary medicine. Knowledge of research &/or evaluation methods and ability to interpret data. Working knowledge of Connect Care.
