This is an opportunity for a Dietitian I is to join the Pediatric Medicine team at the Stollery Children’s Hospital at the UAH site on a permanent 0.6 FTE basis. This Dietitian I reports directly to the Nutrition Services Manager for Child Health in Edmonton Zone. The Dietitian I is primarily responsible for the direct nutrition care for infants and children with complex medical conditions within an inpatient setting. Nutrition care will include; but not limited to, consultation & care planning for nutrition support via parenteral or enteral means, oral supplementation, & diet progressions, optimizing growth and development. This Dietitian actively integrates patient-and family-centered care principles into practice; has excellent communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrates critical thinking, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills; has excellent time management and prioritization skills; and maintains continuing professional and practice competencies through professional development activities. This dietitian has a strong background in providing & leading evidence-informed nutrition care. Responsibilities will also include participation on zone and/or provincial NS committees and/or research projects as required for meeting Provincial NS Child Health Strategy & Standards targets.
Description:
As a Dietitian I, you may provide nutrition expertise to patients (clients, residents) in various AHS facilities and community settings to achieve nutrition and health outcomes. You may be responsible for nutrition assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of nutrition care plans. You may plan and provide public health nutrition services and education programs to promote healthy living and disease prevention for clients/groups in facilities or community settings. Nutrition education is provided to students and other healthcare professionals to support delivery of evidence based nutrition information.

Bachelor of Science with a major in Foods and Nutrition. Completion of an internship program or practicum training program accredited by the Dietitians of Canada. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Dietitians of Alberta (CDA).
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 2 years’ experience as a clinical pediatric dietitian. PN restricted activity permit (may be actively working towards).
Preferred Qualifications:Experience with nutrition and feeding for high-risk infants and children. Demonstrated experience with enteral tube feeding and parenteral nutrition. Acquired knowledge of behavior change counselling and demonstrated effective translation of knowledge into practice with patients and families. Demonstrated proficiency with Connect Care. Successful completion of the 20-hour AHS Breastfeeding course. Prior experience in a tertiary-level healthcare setting.
