You’re a detail-oriented diagnostic sonographer with keen visual discernment and a reassuring bedside manner. A highly skilled professional, you bring advanced expertise in Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) ultrasound and the ability to work confidently in complex clinical environments. With at least three years of dedicated MFM sonography experience, you produce high quality diagnostic images that support accurate clinical decision making and enhance patient care. Alberta Health Services (AHS) needs someone like you to join our dynamic MFM team serving multiple tertiary care sites in Calgary. As an MFM Sonographer on our team, you will support a safe, efficient patient & family centered care experience. Working within an interdisciplinary team, you will perform advanced OB & MFM ultrasound exams, including detailed anatomy, Dopplers, high risk OB evaluations, and early risk assessment. You will also provide ultrasound guidance during fetal therapy and other invasive procedures in collaboration with MFM specialists. As a Diagnostic Sonographer I, you will perform advanced MFM & high-risk obstetrical ultrasound exams using specialized protocols, produce high-quality images for complex maternal, fetal and placental conditions, real time US assistance during fetal procedures, collaborate closely with MFM specialists, nurses, and members of the high-risk obstetrics team. You are also required to maintain meticulous documentation & image archiving in accordance with AHS standards and College regulatory requirements as well as participate in continuing education and quality improvement initiatives within the MFM program.
Description:
As a Diagnostic Sonographer I, you will perform a variety of standardized and complex ultrasound services for the diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology. Your responsibilities include preparing the patient for examination, reviewing patient history, explaining procedures, obtaining ultrasound images of diagnostic quality, and takes initial action to resolve abnormal findings. You will assist with diagnosis, clinical intervention and patient management all while ensuring a high level of patient care and safety. Your work may include assisting Radiologists and Cardiologists, Perinatologists and other medical staff with special procedures where required.

Completion of extended diploma from an accredited ultrasound program or completion of certification in Diagnostic Sonography from an accredited program. Active or eligible for registration with Sonography Canada and/or Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:A minimum of three years maternal fetal medicine-based scanning experience in a tertiary care or high-risk obstetrics setting. Demonstrated proficiency in detailed fetal anatomy imaging, Doppler ultrasound, and high-risk pregnancy assessment. Experience assisting with ultrasound-guided obstetric or fetal procedures. Ability to work independently across multi-site clinical locations. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and critical thinking skills. Should be able to complete a scan interview as part of the hiring process.
Preferred Qualifications:Working knowledge of EPIC and Astraia. A minimum of three years dedicated Maternal Fetal Medicine experience. Demonstrated proficient organizational, technical, interpersonal, communication, and computer skills required. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and in emergency situations required. Demonstrated ability to assume responsibility, to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
