Your Opportunity:

The Rockyview General Hospital is one of Calgary’s largest care facilities and offers a full range of acute and outpatient care. The hospital is located near the Glenmore Reservoir with views of the Rocky Mountains. The Echocardiography Department provides care for both inpatient and outpatients while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to provide patient-centred care. As the Diagnostic Sonographer I for the RGH, you will be responsible for providing Echocardiographic diagnostic testing including transthoracic echocardiograms, transesophageal echocardiograms, echocardiograms, pericardiocentesis, stress testing, contrast studies and echocardiographic examinations for outpatients and inpatients with cardiac conditions. The Echocardiography team is looking for a new, permanent, Diagnostic Sonographer I to join this small, hardworking team. The ideal candidate will be motivated, compassionate and accountable. Description:

As a Diagnostic Sonographer I, you will perform a variety of standardized and complex ultrasound services for the diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology. Your responsibilities include preparing the patient for examination, reviewing patient history, explaining procedures, obtaining ultrasound images of diagnostic quality, and takes initial action to resolve abnormal findings. You will assist with diagnosis, clinical intervention and patient management all while ensuring a high level of patient care and safety. Your work may include assisting Radiologists and Cardiologists, Perinatologists and other medical staff with special procedures where required.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of extended diploma from an accredited ultrasound program or completion of certification in Diagnostic Sonography from an accredited program. Active or eligible for registration with Sonography Canada and/or Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 1 year of experience as a Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer in an acute care setting withing the last 5 years.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in performing procedures including: Transesophageal Echocardiograms, Pericardiocentesis, Stress Testing, Contrast and Bubble Studies. Pediatric experience, ARDMS Pediatric Echo certification. Familiarity with Connect Care Phillips Epiq Machines, and Cardiology PACS reporting system. Experience with Connect Care.
