Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Dental Hygienists (ACDH).
Additional Required Qualifications:Proven ability and desire to consistently demonstrate and model the AHS Values to promote a safe, productive and healthy work environment. Minimum 2 years' experience as a Registered Dental Hygienist. Preference will be given to applicants with recent community health dental program experience. Experience working with young children, older adults, diverse cultures, and marginalized populations. Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as an effective member of a dental health team and with allied professionals. Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a wide variety of people in a health care environment with professionalism and respect. Ability to communicate effectively with clients of varied backgrounds and needs. Demonstrated ability to be attentive to detail. Demonstrated ability to keep records and information confidential, understanding legal requirements and how to secure information when transferring. Strong written and verbal communication skills in the English language. Well-developed organizational and time management skills. Ability to proficiently use basic computer systems – email, Microsoft programs. Experience with Connect Care an asset. Maintains optimal Infection Prevention and Control. Current knowledge of dental hygiene standards and treatment practices; maintains continuing competence program as set out by the Alberta College of Dental Hygienists (ACDH).
Preferred Qualifications:Experience providing preventive services such as fluoride varnish and pit and fissure sealants, in various settings. Experience working in Public Health / Community Health. Work experience in a school environment or child-care centre is an asset. Work experience in a continuing care environment is an asset. Familiarity with various dental service providers/coverage (e.g. Alberta Works, Calgary Dental Treatment Clinics, local offices and organizations supporting access to dental care).
