Previous experience with data coordination in a health care environment is essential. Demonstrated working knowledge about data appropriateness and limitations and the ability to determine relevant information to best meet stakeholders’ needs. Oracle SQL (or PL/SQL) or other comparable database query writing experience. Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau etc.). Advanced user of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, and Access) and the ability to adapt easily to new software and systems. Experience working with large databases and varied data sources. Strong organizational skills. Ability to cope with demanding timelines and competing priorities. Excellent communication and report writing skills.
Additional Required Qualifications:
A good understanding of the Alberta Health Care system and how patient data (administrative/clinical) is collected. Knowledge of and ability to produce a variety of descriptive statistics. Sound understanding of Alberta’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act as well as the Health Information Act.
Preferred Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree with strong quantitative component with a health care focus, e.g. health sciences, health economics, biomedical statistics. Certified Health Information Management Professional designation. Experience with macros, stored procedures and statistical software applications an asset. Previous experience presenting data to a variety of audiences.
