Health Shared Services (HSS) is currently seeking a Clinical Operational Readiness (CORe) Lead to join the Clinical Operations Informatics Office (COIO) team, supporting Nutrition and Food Services (NFS) and Clinical Orders workflows from a Digital Health perspective across the province. Connect Care is a transformative provincial electronic health record that has integrated over 1,300 independent systems across Alberta into one platform, improving patient safety, care quality, and operational efficiency. Clinical Orders and Nutrition and Food Services workflows are foundational to patient care delivery and require strong governance, safety oversight, workflow design, and coordination across clinical, operational, and digital teams. This leadership role plays a critical part in ensuring that orders are standardized, safe, operationally effective, and supported by appropriate task generation and downstream service readiness across all care contexts. The role will also focus on providing strategic informatics leadership and oversight for initiatives within Nutrition and Food Services to ensure safe and optimized digital health systems and workflows are utilized by operational teams. There is flexibility regarding the location of this position within the Province of Alberta, and candidates from across the province are encouraged to apply. Description:
The Clinical Operational Readiness (CORe) Lead – Nutrition & Food Services (NFS) and Clinical Orders is a provincial leadership role within the COIO team, reporting to the Executive Director. This formal leadership position includes direct reports and is responsible for coaching, mentoring, and building team capability in subject matter expertise, change leadership, and consistent delivery of high quality, sustainable outcomes. This role requires strong organizational change management expertise, deep operational knowledge of NFS & orders-based workflows & demonstrated success leading large scale transformation. It focuses on collaborative design of informatics workflows that function cohesively within a complex digital health ecosystem, while providing strategic informatics leadership for NFS initiatives & supporting emerging priorities through Digital Health governance structures. The CORe Lead provides strategic leadership & operational readiness oversight for NFS & Clinical Orders within Connect Care. This includes supporting Patient & Food Services workflows & orders impacting non prescribers, coordinating impact assessments for new & proposed orders, and ensuring clear communication of operational & system design changes. The role emphasizes workflow evaluation, system design alignment, and structured change management for enterprise orders. Working closely with the CIO Orders team, NFS Application Support, CMIO, COIO specialty teams, and NFS stakeholders, the role supports end to end diet & meal service workflows & collaborates with Allied Health teams to support dietitians. The position prioritizes stakeholder engagement, consensus building, structured change management, and disciplined project delivery to ensure safe, effective, and sustainable implementation.

Bachelor’s degree in a Health‑Related Field. Active registration with a related professional association – provincial and/or national which is in good standing. Minimum 10 years of progressive responsibility leading organizational change for programs or organizations of significant size and complexity, including leadership experience. Ability to work within governance structures to define objectives and ensure projects or programs align with overall goals. Demonstrated experience leading teams, including coaching, mentoring, and performance management. Strong understanding of change management principles and methodologies. Certifications related to leadership, management, or change management (e.g., PROSCI). Specialized experience in project management, workflow design, and process improvement. Experience applying structured change management and evaluation approaches. Extensive knowledge of orders‑based workflows and/or Nutrition and Food Services operations. Strong understanding of non‑prescriber workflows and interdepartmental dependencies. Excellent communication, facilitation, and consensus‑building skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in a related field. Professional background in Nutrition and Food Services, Dietetics, Allied Health, or Clinical Operations. Experience with the Epic EMR in a variety of clinical contexts. Experience preparing executive‑level briefing materials and decision documents.
