Your Opportunity:
This role is an opportunity to work as part of the Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) Team as a Registered Nurse (RN) based out of Rockyview General Hospital. The RN reports to the Program Manager of Specialized Geriatrics and is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the operational processes related to MAiD in the Calgary and Central Zones.
Description:
The Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) RN provides information and education regarding the MAiD services to patients, families, health care providers and the public. The MAiD RN works with an extended team including Physicians, Navigators and Registered Nurses to plan and deliver MAiD. The Navigator provides oversight to casual Registered Nurses working as part of the extended team and acts as a mentor to health care providers and students. Strong planning, strong self-awareness, problem solving, and sound decision-making skills are essential. The successful candidate must be able to work in a stressful environment with tight deadlines and competing priorities. There will be travel within Calgary and Central Zone. This complex position requires in-depth knowledge of geriatric best practices, specifically with Geriatric Services. The incumbent must be a self-starter who is able to initiate and complete tasks/projects. The position requires an ability to work and communicate effectively within a small but expert/complex interdisciplinary team.

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Active registration with CRNA.
Additional Required Qualifications:Clinical competence in prioritizing and planning. Working knowledge of health care system required. Demonstrated and clear pattern of professional and personal development. Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to effect change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues. Problem solving, critical thinking and sound decision-making skills. Computer literacy. Strong negotiation skills. Ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams within and outside of AHS.
Preferred Qualifications:Palliative/End of life , Seniors Health or Specialized Geriatric Services experience. Experience with Connect Care.
